Recent Grants

When our donors give unrestricted gifts, they allow the Foundation's trustees to determine how their gifts can best serve the community from year to year as needs and programs change. The earnings from these gifts are distributed through our Discretionary Grants Program. In addition to this program, the Foundation has the privilege of awarding grants from the David D. Corn Trust each year which is administered by German American Investments.  More than $19,000 was awarded during our most recent grant cycle:

2010-11 Pike County Community Foundation Discretionary Grants

$600 to Pike County Area Rehabilitation Center to assist in providing transportation for Pike County students with disabilities who are participating in the internship program at Gibson General Hospital

$750 to Senior & Family Services, Inc. to provide new carpet and flooring for the senior centers in Winslow and Petersburg

$311.50 to Pike County Christian Assistance to fund meat purchases for Pike County residents in need

$500 to Generations to support Pike County 211, a comprehensive listing of available services for Pike County residents 

$1,208.25 to Pike County Public Library for the Books Between Bites Program to help pay for book purchases for book clubs

$250 to Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra for the 2010-2011 Young People's Concerts


2010-11 David D. Corn Trust Grants

$2,500 to Bread of Life Ministries, Inc. for food transportation expenses

$835 to United Way of Pike County to provide funding for the 7th annual Day of Caring in September, 2011

$1,800 to Jefferson Township-Pike County Indiana Volunteer Fire Department for the purchase of new pagers

$1,700 to Jefferson Township/Otwell Community Center to support the Generator Project for the emergency Red Cross shelter for Jefferson Township residents

$385 to Dubois-Pike-Warrick Economic Opportunity Committee (Tri-Cap) for cervical cancer screening lab costs for low-income women in Pike County

$600 to Winslow Elementary Preschool to support the Learning Through Literature Program involving parents in their children's education

$600 to Winslow Elementary School to support the Parent Education Nights Program

$500 to Pike County Agencies for  Kids (PCAK) to support the Children's Safety Fair for children in preschool through the 5th grade

$1,200 to Junior Achievement of Southwestern Indiana for Financial Literacy curriculum at Pike Central High School to provide 12 JA classes

$1,188.50 to Pike County Christian Assistance to fund meat purchases for Pike County residents in need. 

$2,000 to Petersburg Ministerial Fellowship for the Clothe-A-Child Program to provide clothing for needy children at Christmas
